Tips to Develop Your Personal Brand

Posted by: Debby | Comments (0)

Here is a fabulous book by Michael Port,  Book Yourself Solid: The Fastest, Easiest and Most Reliable System for Getting More Clients Than You Can Handle Even if You Hate Marketing and Selling.  It contains some of the most practical, actionable, and no-nonsense advice to authentically market yourself.

I share Michael’s philosophy of getting clear on who you are and your true calling.  Michael categorizes and labels your “personal brand” elements  a bit differently and expounds further, but the essence remains the same.  He calls it your “who and do what” statement, and your “why you do it” statement.

According to this article, Personal Branding 101: How to Discover and Create Your Brand, “brand discovery is about figuring out what you want to do for the rest of your life, setting goals, writing down a mission, vision and personal brand statement (what you do and who you serve), as well as creating a development plan.”

Your self-impression = How people perceive you

Why Social Media Marketing Comes Last

Posted by: Debby | Comments (0)

Here’s a terrific article on the importance of doing the upfront ‘leg work’ before putting your message out on social media!  As the article shares, social media AMPLIFIES your message……….if your message is unclear or confusing then you’ve just amplified it.

AWARENESS: This is taking the time to determine who you are and what you are passionate about sharing/offering (and why), and specifically what you will be offering and the audience you plan to reach and support.

CLARITY: Being able to clearly identify IN WORDS (so it rolls off your tongue…or fingertips….naturally) this awareness.

DEFINE: Now clean up the message so you can memorialize it in every aspect of your marketing strategy (ALL your social media profiles should be consistent, too).

NOW GO: Make sure your message truly expresses who you are, what you offer, your vision…..and remember your website is home base (your audience should eventually get there to learn more and sign up to do business with you, etc.)!  Don’t forget the importance of a well thought out marketing strategy (all marketing venues you intend to express your message AND an action plan to follow)!

Do you work full-time and feel unfilled and desire a more rewarding career?

If You Are Working Full-Time And Desire A More Rewarding Career:

Clarify – Where You Are Exactly & Your Passion….. Get clear on what you are passionate about and how you envision your most joyous life.  Additionally, you must know exactly where you are currently as it relates to finances and time.  I’ve seen individuals whom had great gifts jump in too fast only to fail for lack of clarity and awareness.

Determine A Plan For Moving Forward (business set up and marketing plan) – I have personally learned the hard way and now find it to be my purpose to support others using these experiences to gracefully move into fulfilling their purpose.  Keep your excitement and your vision and also stay focused on creating a sound business through well thought out organization, systems, and business strategy.  In many cases, I suggest maintaining your financial stability with your present job (unless you have a sound financial plan with savings to cover your expenditures for up to one year), while you “step-by-step” implement your business.

Find A Balance – Current Reality & Moving Into Desired Purpose…. (time/money) – In my years of coaching individuals on career matters, I have seen the practical matters of time and money as a key element in realizing their personal and professional desires and vision.  When working full-time and looking to transition, obviously it is usually time that is the key variable in consideration.  It is imperative that you think in advance about how to allocate your time consciously to maintain a higher energy and ease and flow in the process.  When one is exhausted it is near impossible to realize the desired results.

Take Action – One Step At A Time (from a well-layed out plan) – The fun part!  Start taking action one step at a time.  However, I’ve come to realize through years of coaching that we as humans for the craziest reason tend to be afraid of our own success and/or due to esteem concerns to really “put ourselves out there.”  SO – having someone to keep you focused on taking action is truly recommended!  Rationalization, procrastination, and more easily can rear their head during the implementation process.  Don’t get stuck in paralysis analysis either.  :>

Transition Fully Into Passion / Purpose – The true realization of your greatest desires and fulfilling your purpose with joy, ease, and abundance.  Focus on taking one step at a time (and being flexible to the changes that inevitably will arise during the process) and you will soon be on your way to the life you’ve always wanted!

How’s Your Business Plan for 2010?

Posted by: Debby | Comments (0)

Are you Excited for a Successful New Year?

Do you have a well thought out (clearly defined and written) business plan for the New Year?  I’ve personally had a strange relationship with the “Business Plan” over the years.  Writing up a plan the way I was told it needed to sound/look/be according to the banker, leasing company, Small Business Association, SCORE and so on.  Not that their ideas were wrong it’s just that:

They weren’t me - didn’t know or understand my business nor did they truly get my passion, gifts, or how to be true to what I knew inside.

It has taken years for me to gain the clarity of my life purpose (business), own my value and what I have to offer, and clearly communicate to those whom could benefit what I have to offer.  ALL these facets are a part of a sound business plan: your passion, value, offers.

It is from this clarity that concise inspired actions are determined – the other piece of the puzzle in your business plan.

Here’s some thoughts for you to consider:

  1. Is your business plan ready for your success in 2009?
  2. Does your business plan include: your passion, value, offers, clearly defined inspired actions, and business systems to support your intentions?
  3. Are your business systems all in place, fully functioning, and serving you and your clients well?

Here’s wishing you a joyous, prosperous, and fulfilling New Year!

Feel overwhelmed, stuck??? If you need any assistance with your business plan for 2010, private consultations are available: Holistic Business Support.  I would be thrilled to support you in realizing your life’s calling and vision!

I’ve been pondering lately what the term “Marketing” actually means.

It seems for many (myself included at one time), this word actually brings up a negative response.  For a business owner whom cringes at this word, however, it is nearly business suicide.

I read the other day from a prominent business owner that there are two sides to business: service and marketing.  That a business owner must include time, focus, and effort to both sides of the equation.

So what does “Marketing” mean to you? Webster’s Dictionary defines it as, “the process or technique of promoting, selling, and distributing a product or service.” More cringes?  I’d like to suggest another definition, especially for us holistic business owners whom truly want to help others.  The old stereotype of slimy salesman is a real turn off.  So here goes:

Marketing is sharing with others who you are, what you have to offer clearly owning and sharing it’s and your value, with the intention to inspire and be of service to others.

Where many holistic business owners get “hung up” is being afraid of being too pushy (coming off as the “used car salesman, which obviously is not inspiring or being of service) or not themselves truly seeing their own worth and what they have to offer with enough value to truly put themselves out there and want to share their message and services passionately.

I encourage anyone whom fits this category to reconsider their definition of marketing, truly get in touch with their own sense of self worth and life’s purpose, and then decide to take inspired action to set up the business systems, organization, and structure to provide optimal service and share passionately (marketing) with others.

Are You A Holistic Business Owner (or want to be)?

Do you ask yourself questions like:

How can I make enough money doing what I love and have a passion for?

What do I need to do SPECIFICALLY to build a thriving practice?

Do I really have to market my services?

What are the keys to success?

Here is an awesome article on the Top 10 Ways To Skyrocket Your Business written by a marketing/business guru (from Dallas, TX) whom I truly respect.

For those of you whom have a calling to support others along their healing journey, your energy sets the stage for the support you give.

This includes many aspects such as self care and nurturing and being connected to your true self and higher energies.  One way that I love to raise my energetic vibration is through music.  As we know, music is an energetic vibration and coupled with powerful words (I believe all words spoken are actually an affirmation particularly if heard repeatedly) and can have a direct effect on your personal energy vibration.

Some of my own personal favorite songs of inspiration are listed in a recent post written on my Holistic Living website.  Enjoy!!
